Enhancing Resilient Infrastructure

Operating and maintaining safe infrastructure is not only a regulatory requirement, it makes sound business sense: it protects workers and reduces unplanned and unnecessary downtime, boosting profit and productivity.

From complex environments, such as chemical plants and offshore installations, to more conventional work equipment and machinery, organisations need to know that the infrastructure and assets they are responsible for are safe and that the right management systems are in place to keep them that way.

The applies to the workspaces of the future too - every infrastructure sector is likely to face transformative technological change over the next twenty years, underpinned by a national infrastructure strategy committed to building a Britain with world class infrastructure.

If we are to achieve these ambitions, we need to proactively 'design-in' safety as part of the process. That way we stand the best chance of getting it right first time, helping government and industry to deliver infrastructure projects better, greener and faster.

HSE's Enhancing Resilient Infrastructure solutions can support the management of today's and the development of tomorrow's safe and resilient infrastructure.

We do this by helping organisations to continuously improve. We help you to develop robust, pragmatic and proactive approaches to managing your existing assets and infrastructure. We also help you to 'design-in' health and safety as part of the infrastructure and technologies of the future.

We combine the regulatory insight, the world class science and engineering capabilities and the experience we have learned from over a century of incident investigation, process safety development and major accident hazard risk management as part of Great Britain's health and safety regulator.

We apply this to real-world challenges, with the aim of minimising harm and maintaining optimal health and safety performance.

How can we help?

Managing and controlling risk

Controlling major accident hazards

Preventing fire and explosion

Ongoing integrity and management of ageing assets

Incorporating human factors

Designing safe environments

Enabling new technologies

Developing regulatory systems

Testing and validating materials, products and processes
