In March 2023 HSE organised 'Safe Net Zero 2023 - Hydrogen', a two-day conference that brought together over 100 delegates to connect, share knowledge and gain insight into the safe development and deployment of innovative hydrogen technologies.

UK Government's Energy Security Strategy reaffirms the UK's commitment to hydrogen: aiming to generate up to 10GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030, double the previous ambition. This means the technology landscape for hydrogen continues to develop at pace and Government, industry and innovators all need to continue to pull in the same direction if they are to successfully unlock hydrogen's potential as a low carbon energy carrier.

Safety was the underpinning theme for the event, with a comprehensive programme covering:

• Industrial clusters, hydrogen production and use
• Applications in aviation
• International hydrogen safety topics
• Applications in maritime
• Liquid fuels and systems
