Safety Excellence in Energy: The Future of Gas

>> Book now

Introducing Innovative and safe energy supplies that ensure the UK meets its emissions reduction target by 2050 is a topic that has implications both for industry and consumers.CPD Certified

The future of gas in this emerging low carbon energy system is becoming clearer, but it is also complex. There are challenges to be faced in managing the risk related to introducing alternative gasses into the UK's gas grid and ensuring the safety of emerging energy technologies. Three key themes that the UK needs to address are:

  • Transition to low carbon & decarbonised gas
  • Asset management and operability during the transition and beyond
  • The important role of Power to Gas

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), supported by the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM), is responding to these challenges by hosting Safety Excellence in Energy: The Future of Gas.

Working in partnership is one of the strengths of the British health and safety system, and this inaugural conference will unite keynote speakers representing industry, government, research and standards-making.

HSE's technical specialists will share the knowledge and expertise they have gained from working with industry around managing the risks relating to energy storage; integrating renewables, hydrogen; bio-syngas production from biomass and the safety aspects of introducing alternative gasses into the UK's gas grid.

Benefits of attending:

You'll hear the latest thinking about the future of gas from keynote speakers within industry and government, find out what the key challenges are and learn how the energy sector is preparing to meet them.

Presentations from energy experts will cover:

  • The future of gas in an emerging low carbon energy system
  • Asset management and possible transition pathways to transport different gases and mixtures through the gas network safely
  • Energy vector options that could be transported in the network
  • Power to Gas technology and its contribution to de-carbonising the gas grid

Who should attend:

  • Directors of Gas suppliers, distributors, end users, equipment manufacturers and researchers
  • Energy sector representatives responsible for innovation, R&D, Health and Safety
  • Risk management professionals
  • Process safety engineers
  • Senior gas engineers who will be affected by the impact of changes in the energy sector

Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities

We will have various sponsorship opportunities available to suit organisations of different sizes and budgets. Our events provide an excellent networking opportunity and can offer you a targeted platform to raise your organisation's profile and promote products and services to industry decision-makers.
