Key Features of the SCT
The SCT is delivered on-line - there is no
additional software to install, saving your organisation time and
expense.
The improved "Quizard" guides you through the easy set
up stages to tailor the survey towards the needs of your
organisation.
The questionnaire can be customised to give the
look and feel of your organisation - you can incorporate your
company logo, include statements of support from management and
tailor the language to that used by your workforce.
The SCT allows you to choose up to 9 demographic
questions and an additional 6 open questions.
It generates both paper and web-based versions
of the questionnaire.
The SCT captures sensitive information -
participants respond anonymously.
The software automatically analyses the data to
produce a written summary report as well as a series of charts
which can be filtered down to further interrogate your
findings.
The Questionnaire
The questionnaire was developed from
the renowned and respected HSE Climate Survey Tool. The revision
process has refined the tool so that it is a more reliable and
valid psychometric instrument, and as a result it is more useful to
both public and private sector organisations.
Some example statements include:
Accident investigations are mainly used to identify who
is to blame.
All the people who work in my team are fully committed
to health and safety.
The questionnaire is designed so that people rate their
responses to the statements on a 1 to 5 point scale from strongly
disagree to strongly agree. It is purposely designed to seek the
views of all levels of the workforce so that their results can be
compared.
Some statements are worded negatively
so as not to 'lead' respondents towards one particular viewpoint.
For example, "People here are sometimes pressured to work unsafely
by their workmates" and "Management only bother to look at health
and safety after there has been an accident". The survey comprises
of 40 statements. These statements map onto one of 8 factors:
