Pesticide Appointment

John Cocker, a Senior Scientist at HSL, has recently been appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to serve as a member of the Advisory Committee on Pesticides (ACP). This is an independent body which advises Ministers on all matters relating to the control of pesticides. Members provide scientific advice on the safe and effective use of pesticides and other pest control methods.

This important Ministerial appointment recognises John's significant expertise in occupational exposure assessments. John has successfully steered the research and analytical services work of the Biological Monitoring Team, and his efforts have raised the profile of using biomonitoring as an important tool for assessing and controlling occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals, including pesticides and biocides.

As well as providing valuable networking and learning opportunities for John, the posting will further enhance HSL's reputation as an organisation committed to developing and delivering world-class science.
