HSL provides a number of services to the Health and Safety
Executive (HSE) and other commercial customers. As a result
of these services, HSL generates and holds a large amount of data,
some of which may be licensed for re-use.
National Population Database
Material - One such example is
the National Population Database (NPD), which is a geographical
information system (GIS) tool developed by HSL to inform HSE's risk
assessment work within the United Kingdom.
Further information on the NPD Tool can be found in a separate
case study.
HSL has become a licensed reseller of Ordnance Survey mapping
data, upon which the NPD Tool is built, and this now allows us to
licence NPD data to other organisations for re-use.
Prices - Licence fees are based
upon the customer's data requirements (in terms of the number of
population layers required and the geographical area(s) of
interest) in addition to the customer's own licence status for
Ordnance Survey mapping products. Prices include all data
collation and supply fees as well as the relevant licence fees.
Requesting a licence - For
further information or a quote please contact the HSL GIS team
directly: gis@hsl.gsi.gov.uk or the HSL Licensing
team: licensing@hsl.gsi.gov.uk
