NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management (Pilot)

Introduction

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and NEBOSH have collaborated to develop a new specialist Occupational Safety and Health Qualification specifically for process industries. The qualification combines the advanced technical 'high hazard' expertise of HSE with NEBOSH's ability to deliver strong vocational OSH qualifications.

The course focuses on the prevention of catastrophic accidents and near misses associated with loss of containment of energy or dangerous substances such as chemicals and hydrocarbons.

The course will cover:

• Establishment of process management systems

• Asset management and maintenance strategies

• Start-up and shutdown of process plant

• Performance standards for safety critical systems and equipment

• Hazards and controls for:

- Chemical reactions

- Bulk storage of dangerous substances

- Fire and explosion

• Purpose and features of emergency plans

The tutors have a wide range of process safety experience gained through HSE's activities in the onshore chemicals and offshore oil & gas industries.

Candidates are assessed by multiple choice examination including a case study based on real life scenarios.

Learning Outcomes:

The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management is designed to provide a sound breadth of knowledge that will allow you to contribute to the effective management of process safety risks.

The qualification aims to provide holders with the knowledge and understanding of Process Safety Management to ensure that they can contribute to the effective management of process safety risks.

Who should attend?

People who work in process industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, plastics and pharmaceuticals.

Managers, supervisors and safety professional that want to gain specialist knowledge of these hazardous industries to fulfil their process safety responsibilities.

It is advised that students should already have an underpinning knowledge of health and safety issues, and many will have gained another NEBOSH qualification.

Venue

The course will be run at the HSL laboratory in the spa town of Buxton. Buxton is in the heart of the Peak District and has good links to mainline train stations and Manchester International Airport.

Cost

The cost of this course is £1,495 per person (includes course notes and handbook, lunch and refreshments and NEBOSH examination fee).

 

Please note: Your details will be shared with NEBOSH as part of the registration process. For this they will also need your date of birth.
