Designing & Specifying Safety Related Control Systems

Introduction
Control systems for machinery are often required to perform
safety-related functions. There are regulatory requirements for
these safety-related control systems and established approaches for
dealing with their design which are laid out in European Standards.
This course will benefit delegates responsible for specifying and
designing safety related control circuits which comply with the
requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008
(Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC) and the Provision and Use of Work
Equipment Regulations. The course concentrates mainly on the
approach laid down in EN ISO 13849 parts 1 and 2 and applies the
requirements of the standard to a worked example. Other relevant
standards such as EN 62061 are also referenced.
Course includes
- Control system requirements of the Machinery Directive and
PUWER
- Safety integrity levels, performance levels, categories, what
they are what they aren't and the difference between them
- Worked example of a circuit design
- Demonstration of interlocking and other safety devices

Who should attend?
Venue
The course will be run at the HSE Science and Research Centre in
the spa town of Buxton. Buxton is in the heart of the Peak District
and has good links to mainline train stations and Manchester
International Airport.

The cost of the course is £515 per person (includes course
