HSE's Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD) is holding a two-day
Consumer Risk Assessment workshop. The aim of the event will be to
raise awareness, provide guidance in the appropriate use of residue
values in risk assessment models, and highlight commonly
encountered problems and topical issues in the field of residues
evaluation and consumer risk assessment. A mixture of presentations
and case studies (workshop style, for example using the PRIMo3 EFSA
model for risk assessment) considered in an informal setting will
be used to relay the information.
The course will cover:
- Underlying principles of chronic and acute risk assessment
- Selection of residue values for risk assessment purposes,
covering human dietary intakes and animal dietary burden
- Topical issues relevant to residues (e.g. residue definitions)
and consumer risk assessment (e.g. variability and cumulative
- Processing factors and refining risk assessments
- Rotational crop scenarios for residues assessments
- Combined risk assessment

Given the nature of the workshop, places will be limited to a
maximum of 16 delegates.
Who should attend?
The event will be targeted at technical and regulatory staff
involved in the production and submission of residues data to HSE
(CRD), and those performing consumer risk assessments to support
authorisations. The workshop is tailored both to those relatively
new to residues work and those wanting to refresh their
understanding of the principles of the residues and consumer risk
assessment; the programme also aims to provide HSE (CRD) views on
The event might also be of interest in those involved in risk
assessments based on the results of post-approval residue
monitoring, however such individuals are encouraged to discuss
their interest in attending with HSE (CRD) in the first instance,
prior to booking.
The workshop will be held at the Chemicals Regulation Division,
Mallard House, Kings Pool, 3 Peasholme Green, York YO1 7PX.
Registration will begin from 9:00 am. The workshop will start at
9:30 am on day one and finish around 4:30 pm on day two.
The cost of this course is £670 (plus VAT) per person (includes
course notes, lunch and refreshments)
