CRD - One Day Workshop: Biocides for Beginners - An introduction to EU BPR

Health and Safety Executive, Redgrave Court, Merton Road, Bootle L20 7HS.

HSE's Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD) will be holding a one-day workshop on the regulation of biocidal products in the UK under the Biocidal Products Regulation 528/2012 (EU BPR). The workshop is designed to be an introduction to the EU BPR and will provide a basic overview of the regulation and the core data requirements. Therefore this event is suitable only for those stakeholders who have very little or no experience of the EU BPR.

During the morning session, members of CRD's biocidal products team will deliver a series of presentations providing information on the scope of the BPR, transition from national law and BPR application types. We will also provide practical advice and guidance on the application process and members of our technical teams will provide overviews of the core BPR data requirements.

The afternoon session will focus on an interactive workshop with case studies requiring attendees to apply knowledge gained during the morning session. Following this, there will be an overview of the authorisation documents as well as a Q&A session to close the workshop.

There will be an opportunity to pre-book a one to one appointment to discuss specific issues or questions following the workshop.

The workshop will cover:

  • Biocidal product claims and scope
    • What is a biocidal product?
    • What do the EU BPR regulations cover?
  • Transition from UK national scheme to EU BPR
    • Active approval dates
    • Article 89
    • Article 95
  • Overview of application types
    • General requirements
