Introduction

HSE's Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD) will be holding a one-day seminar on the regulation of biocidal products in the UK under the Biocidal Products Regulation 528/2012 (EU BPR).

During the morning session members of CRD's Biocidal Products Authorisation team will deliver a series of presentations providing background information, practical advice and guidance on the application process and a range of application types using a theoretical product portfolio.

The interactive afternoon session will provide an opportunity to share business' experience of the benefits and burdens of the current regulatory scheme and also discuss the future opportunities and challenges facing the sector, accompanied with short presentations from British Coatings Federation, Chemical Industries Association and members of HSE's Policy and Enforcement teams.

The seminar will cover:

  • Informative presentations on a range of application types covered by the current EU legislation, the EU BPR:
    • National Authorisations (single products) and mutual recognition.
    • Union Authorisation.
    • Simplified Authorisation.
    • Same Biocidal Product authorisation.
    • Parallel Trade Permits.
  • Presentations from industry on their experiences of working within the BPR.
  • An opportunity to discuss your experiences on the benefits and burdens of the current regulatory environment under the BPR.
  • Share your views on how the UK leaving the European Union might affect existing and future biocidal product authorisations.

 

Who should attend?

The content of the seminar will be relevant to businesses intending to obtain biocidal product authorisations in the UK and/or other EU member states and who would like to better understand the EU process. The event will also be of interest to those wanting to interact with other businesses and HSE by sharing their experience and opinion of the EU BPR and regulation of biocidal products in the UK following the invocation of Article 50.

Places will be limited to a maximum of 60 delegates.

Venue

The seminar will be held at Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre, St Nicholas Place, Princes Dock, Liverpool, L3 1QW. Registration will begin from 9:00 am. The seminar will start at 9:45am and finish around 4:30 pm.

Cost

The cost of this event is £435.00 (plus VAT) per person (includes course notes, lunch and refreshments)
