Training - Load Security for Road Transport Book Now Button

HSL is to run a one day course on Load Security for Road Transport.

This course will be held at the Health and Safety Laboratory, Harpur Hill, Buxton, Derbyshire on the following date:

Date
Wednesday 26 November 2008

Introduction
Adequate load security is vital in ensuring safe load transport, reducing the risk of vehicle rollover, load shifts and falling loads, as well as avoiding product damage. Employers have legal responsibilities to ensure that loads transported by road are secured properly to prevent load movement.

This course is designed to provide a sound understanding of why loads shift and what can be done to prevent load shift, as well as addressing common misconceptions around load security. Practical examples of effective load restraint will be given and there will be an informal session at the end of the day to discuss specific issues.

What will the course cover?

  • Why loads should be secured
  • Why loads shift
  • The difference between load containment and load restraint
  • Assessing the risk
  • Access to the vehicle and working at heights
  • Responsibility for securing the load
  • Current UK and EU guidance and legislation
Who should attend?
Transport managers and heath and safety advisors.

Venue
The course will be run at the HSL laboratory in the spa town of Buxton. Buxton is in the heart of the Peak District and has good links to mainline train stations and Manchester International Airport.

The cost of the course is £325 + VAT per person (includes course notes, lunch and refreshments).
