Introduction
Gas safety in rented and catering sectors is increasingly in the news. Fires and carbon monoxide poisonings due to faulty installation and servicing are preventable tragedies.

This workshop is specifically aimed at Environmental Health Officers. It is designed to give an introduction to the training and knowledge required in the areas of gas safety they might come across whilst carrying out their day-to-day duties.

At the end of the course, a practical exercise in a real catering restaurant will enable each candidate to consolidate the day’s training.

Who should attend?
The workshop is an introduction to gas safety and suited to all who have an interest in gas safety in workplace environments and wish to understand more about recognising faults and how to assess the safety of gas installations.

This workshop is specifically aimed at Environmental Health Officers with a gas safety remit. No previous knowledge or experience is required.

• Gas safety (combustion, ventilation & flueing);
• Landlord's responsibilities & managing gas safety;
• Gas appliances, installations & catering premises;
• Faultfinding and assessing risks;
• Practical session assessing catering risks in HSL’s staff restaurant.

Who will be presenting the course?
HSL scientists and engineers who are experts in the field of gas safety and have many years' experience investigating incidents involving natural gas and LPG.
