HSL is to run a 1 day course on COMAH Remodelling.

The COMAH Remodelling Workshop will be held at the Health and Safety Laboratory, Harpur Hill, Buxton, Derbyshire.

 Introduction

The COMAH Competent Authority (HSE, the Environment Agency and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency) are changing the way in which they organise and implement the COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazard)Regulations from 1 April 2010. This is the culmination of a two year project to increase the efficiency of regulation under COMAH. The regulations are not changing, but the implementation is.

 This course provides an overview of the changes, particularly in terms of how they effect duty-holders and what the COMAH Competent Authority is now looking for. It will be delivered by HSL staff who have been involved in the COMAH Remodelling project and who have trained COMAH Competent Authority staff in the changes.

The course will cover:

• The background to the changes and what the COMAH Competent Authority hopes to achieve from them
• An understanding of what has changed in the areas of safety reports, inspections, investigations and enforcement.
• The new performance rating system for sites.
• What the changes mean for COMAH duty-holders.

 Who should attend?

Safety professionals and managers who are involved in the writing and updating of COMAH safety reports or dealing with the COMAH competent authority during inspections. Consultants who provide assistance with safety reports.

Venue

The course will be run at the HSL laboratory in the spa town of Buxton. Buxton is in the heart of the Peak District and has good links to mainline train stations and Manchester International Airport.

The cost of the course is £425 + VAT per person (includes course notes, lunch and refreshments).
