IChemE Presents HSL with Centenary Award
HSL got a boost to the 2011 centenary celebrations as
IChemE presented a special
award to HSL Chief Executive Eddie Morland at a recent
conference.
The Institution of Chemical Engineers helped
mark HSL's 100th birthday with a presentation at
the Hazards XXII conference in recognition
of HSL's contribution to the cause of better process safety
and environment protection over the last century.
IChemE president, Desmond King made the presentation to Mr
Morland in front of an audience of conference delegates in
Liverpool, UK.
Eddie Morland said: "HSL has been putting science at the
forefront of safety for a century and it is a real honour to have
that contribution recognised by IChemE. A lot has changed in the
world of work since 1911 - and although Britain has moved from a
heavy manufacturing economy to one based increasingly on services,
significant industrial hazards remain and new risks have emerged.
We are looking forward to the next 100 years and finding new ways
to manage these issues with our partners and clients, creating safe
and sustainable workplaces for future generations."
IChemE Director of Policy and Communication, Andrew Furlong
said: "The HSL has made a significant and sustained contribution to
improving process safety and this event is an ideal opportunity to
recognise its long-standing commitment to the cause."
