HSE Nanoalert
Nanotechnology is a fast-moving area of science, which encompasses many disciplines. As the major regulator of health and safety in the workplace, HSE needs to keep abreast of recent research developments in the areas of toxicology / human health effects, and potential human exposure to nanomaterials in the occupational arena. HSL has therefore developed an information service that provides HSE with a regular NanoAlert bulletin.
This bulletin is based on extensive searches of appropriate databases (including Medline, Embase, ToxFile), using a comprehensive set of carefully chosen search terms. The abstracts of the papers retrieved are then scrutinised and key papers identified, and discussed in each bulletin. The first bulletin, prepared in December 2006, summarised the literature published since 2000. Further bulletins, prepared at regular intervals, review more recent literature.
