    We have developed a new smart phone application to help operators calculate the right number of straps STRappneeded to secure their load and comply with road traffic legislation.

    Based on the established European  Standard EN 12195-1:2010, the app not only calculates how many straps are needed, but offers helpful hints and tips about other ways operators can improve load security.

    Drivers and operators of commercial vehicles have legal responsibilities to ensure that the loads they carry are secured to the vehicle

     

    The app has been developed for Android devices and is now available via Google Play.

    Welcome to HSL's online ordering system for biological monitoring sample kits and analysis.  On completion of your online order, the relevant sample kits, packaging and paperwork will be sent to you - simply collect the samples and return to HSL for analysis.  Please note: the name and address used in this system will be used as the delivery address for kits and result reports.  The requestor is responsible for obtaining informed consent from workers and for communicating the results, observing the personal data nature of those results.

    Please note that the online ordering system is currently designed such that all samples ordered must be returned for analysis in a single batch.  To order kits to be sent back in multiple batches, please email sample.registration@hsl.gsi.gov.uk.

    Respirable Crystalline Silica Reference Material

    The material (SIKRON F600, lot A9950) was sourced by HSL in 1980 from Quartzwerke (Frechen, Germany) and sized to the respirable range via a cyclonic sedimentation process. It is certified for its crystallinity through an published international comparison[1].  Information on its aerodynamic and geometric particle size, surface area and X-ray diffraction and infra-red response are also included in the paper published from the international comparison.

    Each bottle contains 5 g of respirable dusts.
