Introduction
With increasing concern about the misuse of drugs within the
workplace, and the potential detrimental effect on workers' safety,
many employers are considering implementing a workplace drug and
alcohol policy. This workshop is designed to highlight the legal
and regulatory issues relating to this sensitive area, to enable
employer to implement a robust and fair policy that will address
the needs of their organisation and also to consider the
implications of any such policy.
What will the course cover?
- What is the legislation regarding drugs and alcohol in the
workplace?
- What should be covered by a workplace drug and alcohol
policy?
- Should you undertake both testings and what is involved?
- Practical aspects of a drug & alcohol policy and workplace
testing.
Who should attend?
The workshop is designed for occupational health providers
(physicians, nurses and health and safety professionals) and Human
Resource Managers who are interested in what drug and alcohol
testing is, how they should go about implementing such a policy and
how to oversee supervised collections.
Who will present?
Anil Adisesh - Consultant Occupational Health
Physician (expertise in all areas of occupational health and fellow
of Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM).
Howard Mason - Principal Scientist (expertise in
toxicology, biochemistry, drug and alcohol screening, HAVS).
Kate Jones - Principal Scientist (expertise in
biological monitoring for organic chemicals, including drug and
alcohol confirmations).
Venue
The workshop will be run at the HSL laboratory in the spa town
of Buxton. Buxton is in the heart of the Peak District and has good
links to mainline train stations and Manchester International
Airport.
Cost
The cost of this course is £375 per person (includes course
notes, lunch and refreshments).
