Introduction
Safety should be a top priority for anyone working in a
laboratory, however balancing safety requirements with
bench-focused deliverables requires thought and understanding of a
range of different topics. The first step is to understand the
hazards you are working with, the risks associated with them, and
the range of control measures available along with how and when
they should be used.
This one-day course covers hazard identification, risk
assessment, engineering, administrative and personal control
measures, waste handling, emergency procedures and training and
competency, within containment level 2 (CL2) and containment level
3 (CL3) laboratories, equipping delegates with the knowledge to
safely work within a microbiology setting.
Learning outcomes
Delegates will be provided with information that will help them
to:
- Identify common hazards in CL2 and CL3 laboratory
environments
- Conduct a risk assessment
- Identify laboratory control measures, including engineering,
administrative and personal controls
