DSEAR Assessment Support and Training

The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) require employers to assess all potential risks to employees and others whose safety may be affected by the use or presence of a dangerous substance at the workplace.

Two of the key requirements for complying with DSEAR are:

  • carrying out a risk assessment that includes identifying sources of flammable atmospheres and suitable control measures; and
  • performing Hazardous Area Classification calculations to identify where flammable atmospheres may be present and where ignition sources need to be controlled.

Get expert help with your DSEAR risk assessments

Our hazardous area classification specialists are highly experienced in carrying out DSEAR assessments and have been closely involved with the development of many of the key standards and guidance on area classification.

This means we are perfectly placed to help you achieve DSEAR compliance, and can provide expertise in three main areas:

  • Training courses on area classification and DSEAR
  • Quadvent 2 - a software tool that makes it easy to accurately calculate flammable gas cloud volumes
  • Consultancy services to help you get DSEAR assessments and hazardous area classifications right

To enquire about how we may help you with your DSEAR-related risks, or for advice on any other aspects of risk management and process safety, then please email us at Business.Enquiries@hse.gov.uk.
