HSL PT schemes

Subscription to HSL PT schemes for 2012-13 is now open. Order forms have been dispatched to existing customers. New customers are requested to contact the PT team. Participants are requested to place orders with HSL by Friday 30th March to enable participation in all scheduled 2012-13 PT rounds.

AIMS PT scheme update

HSL are continually developing the Proficiency Testing Schemes with a view to improving services to our customers. The latest AIMS development is an On-Line Data Entry system, whereby we hope to be able to reduce our use of paper-based systems and also give customers ownership and control of their data and the data submission process. We are now dual running this new data entry system alongside our current email/paper based data submission method for AIMS round 47. All AIMS participants joining for 2012-13 have now been sent login details.

HSL is proposing to start a material emission-testing scheme in April 2012. The scheme is aimed at laboratories undertaking VOC analysis in indoor and test chamber air by sampling onto Tenax sorbent with TD-GC FID/MS as outlined in ISO 16000-6 and similar standards.

This scheme will be of benefit to participants that offer or propose to offer analytical services with respect to chemical emissions from construction products that are required under existing and emerging product regulations. In particular the proposed scheme will provide an independent means of assessing the analytical calibration and performance of TD-GC instrumentation used in this application sector. It is proposed to supply participant laboratories with tenax sorbent tubes test samples loaded with a number of suitable VOC components initially on a biannual basis.  A scheme flier can be downloaded here.

This new scheme will thus compliment existing WASP VOC and formaldehyde PT schemes.
