The Centre for Interdisciplinary NanoResearch (CiNR) at HSL
brings together a wide range of health and safety research
capabilities based at HSL, with the specific aim of applying them
to the field of nanomaterials and nanotechnology.
HSL has been involved in nanoresearch for several years and has
been at the cutting edge of work investigating the associated
health and safety issues. In 2004 HSL organised, in collaboration
with the UK Health
and Safety Executive (HSE) and the USA National Institute
of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and hosted the First
International Symposium on Occupational Health Implications of
Nanotechnology.

We have now combined the knowledge and experience of our
world-class scientists and engineers into a 'Centre of
Excellence'. This ensures that our research work and
capabilities will be accessible to all those with a vested
interest, whether they be Government departments, nanotechnology
development or manufacturing industry, university research
departments, small companies or members of the general public.
