Specialist Scientific Facilities
- Thermal Chamber
This facility is used to test equipment at different ambient conditions,
aid in product design, assess physiological strain resulting from
wearing PPE as well as investigating the effects of the thermal
environment on people at work or undertaking recreational activity.
A unique feature of this chamber is the ability to introduce SF6
gas whilst the chamber is at temperature. This is particularly useful
when determining the fit of respiratory protective equipment or
when conducting inward leakage tests.
HSL uses the latest scientific equipment to monitor the thermal
environment and to monitor physiological stress on people. These
measurements can be made either in our thermal chamber or in the
workplace.
