Capabilities - Photographic & Technical Services

Bringing together specialist photographers, designers and craftsmen to deliver a high quality, versatile support service across all of HSL's scientific activities. As well as forensic photography in support of incident investigations, we can provide a comprehensive service for the production of technical and training videos.

Our photographic and technical capability encompasses:

• Still, digital and video photography, including micro- and macro-photography.
  
  

• Forensic photography. Our photographers are trained to work offshore and at rail track-sides as well as a wide range of industrial locations.

• Intrinsically safe and flameproof photographic equipment is available for use underground and at major hazard sites.

• Video production. Video editing facilities are available.

• High speed video (40,000 frames per second).

• Creation of 3D computer models, animation and output to CD, DVD or tape.

• Capture and manipulation of digital images and export to digital media.

• Extensive photographic and videotape archive and computer-based retrieval system.

• Mechanical design and manufacturing services. Specialist design and workshop facilities are available to produce special purpose equipment for experimental trials and detailed working models to support court prosecutions.
