This facility is used to measure physiological parameters in subjects
when performing manual handling and/or repetitive tasks.
Features
• Two
force platforms mounted flush in a walkway to allow the measurement
of forces on each foot whilst either moving or standing still;
• A movement monitoring system which tracks the position of
landmarks which are typically fixed to a subject's limbs;
• A muscle activity telemetry system;
• Hand-held force measuring equipment;
• Joint angle recording equipment;
• A biomechanical lifting model for predicting spinal compression
and joint torque.
Applications
• Studies of manual handling problems;
• Assessment and control of musculo-skeletal disorders.
