Incident Investigation and Metallurgy

Phil Heyes is a materials scientist, Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. With a substantial background in failure investigations and research into the fracture behaviour of materials, he has contributed to many high profile HSE incident investigations, for example the Hillsborough Stadium disaster and the Hatfield derailment.  Phil has published widely on both the failure of engineering materials and components, and on incident investigation. His current role is as Investigations Advisor at HSL.
