Andrew joined HSL in 1991 after completing a PhD in cancer
research at Nottingham University. Whilst at HSL he
developed a research interest in occupational respiratory disease
and he has published and lectured extensively in this area. Andrew
is currently the Director of Science and Resources at HSL and his
responsibilities include the professional leadership of the
scientists, engineers and technical specialists within the
organisation. He also ensures that the available human
resources match the requirements of HSL's customers. Andrew helped
to establish the Centre for Workplace
Health (CWH) with HSL's Chief Medical Officer, David
Fishwick. . CWH is an academic unit of the University of
Sheffield and Andrew is the Scientific Director of CWH. He
is also an honorary Reader at the University of Sheffield and
an honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. Andrew
is an active member of the International Commission on Occupational
Health, and is a member of the UK organising committee for the
2011 meeting on epidemiology in occupational health. He also Chairs
a European group on Well-being.
